My husband and I have been doing lots of small projects around our home lately. Today, I wanted to share the end results of them. First up, our bedroom!
I was kind of over the turquoise and orange color scheme we had going on, and decided I really wanted to focus on the turquoise and add in lots of bright whites. So that meant we needed new art for over the bed, as well as new lamps. I really can’t get over how expensive lighting can be! Luckily, we stumbled across these white lamps that weren’t too insanely expensive, and found this Ikea zebra wall art for a great price. (gotta love Ikea!) I love how bold and graphic the zebra is, it makes the perfect statement over our bed. We’ve had these pillows for awhile, we got them on Amazon and Etsy.
It has been a long time coming, but I finally have my own office space! For a year now, I had been keeping my laptop on our kitchen countertop. We are currently in the process of redoing our kitchen, and the laptop just couldn’t stay there any longer. It gave me the perfect excuse to finally get the white desk I had been wanting…and thankfully, I was able to find it under $200. I decorated my workspace with a white ceramic pineapple (yup, I’m kind of obsessed with pineapples), books (here and here), a striped mug to hold my pencils, a New York print, and my neon Dogfish Head beer tap. This pink ottoman stool was the perfect height to use with my desk, and the price was right! (under $60…and they just came out with a similar teal one!) Oh, and this pink zebra desktop background has been on my computer for a full year now…I just can’t bring myself to change it!
Lastly, we just finished our dining room yesterday. My dining room for years has been home to two of my favorite things in my house: my favorite paint color, Benjamin Moore Surf Blue, and my favorite lighting fixture, the West Elm Large Rectangle Hanging Capiz Chandelier . As much as I love those two items, the downside of the room was the dining room table and chairs that frankly just did not go with the rest of the decor in our house. Again, it was Ikea and Target to the rescue! We went with the Bjursta Extendable table from Ikea and some grey nailhead trim dining chairs from Target. I’m very happy with the quality of both the table and Target dining chairs. We also purchased matching bar stools for our breakfast bar in our kitchen. We have had our Anthropologie Oversized Zinc Letter K up for awhile. We have had our rug for several years as well.
As mentioned above, we are currently in the process of redoing our kitchen. We have spent the last three weeks staining our cabinets, and are hoping to have new countertops and a backsplash installed in the next few months. I can’t wait to share our end results!
